James helps junior talent and lateral hires to develop their technical skills in financial analysis, modelling, corporate finance and valuation. As well as designing and delivering customised programmes for clients, James also works with leading financial training companies, Training the Street and Redcliffe Training. He has delivered courses on accounting, financial modelling, corporate finance, valuation and capital markets for 10+ years at banks, corporates, private equity and advisory firms throughout the world.
Before financial training, James worked in investment banking in the City of London, initially with HSBC and subsequently at Merrill Lynch. Throughout his time in the City he was in a front office role, advising companies on valuation, financing, acquisitions, foreign exchange and derivatives. Prior to this he graduated from Cambridge University and qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA) with Arthur Anderson. He is also a CFA Charterholder.

My expectation was to get a solid grounding in all the LBO modelling aspects that would be required as an M&A Associate in an investment bank. James was extremely well versed on the subject matter and was able to answer all our queries practically via Excel examples, which is fantastic for those looking to master the modelling aspect of LBOs.
